Halfway there.

One of my goals for the house was to switch out my generic IKEA art for something more personal. The other day I decided to surf the web for antique/vintage looking maps after seeing this pin on Pinterest. I wound up finding this map on Amazon, a Rand McNally made to look antiqued. I got it for 14$ and it is huge - 50X32.

You may remember that one of my problem areas was the set of three IKEA prints by the dining table:

I took the mats to the IKEA frames (Ribba, if you were wondering) and unrolled my map. I adjusted the mats to where I wanted and marked the cuts.

Then I started cutting away! One down..
 And the final product!

I love the combination of colors, how it isn't IKEA-everyone-has-it, and how it relates to my profession. Now to find the perfect piece of art for the other wall....

What a great idea!!! I may have to borrow it. I found your blog on YHL and saw your kitchen re-design which was AMAZING. I absolutely loved your use of color in it! Anyway, I just wanted to stop in and say I love your blog. My husband and I are going through the same thing with updating an old home and it is no easy task. :) So keep your good ideas coming!
